"Good to know," Kaige replied with a nod. "And of course the world isn't wonderful, and in my book, well, there's no such thing as perfection," he said, laughing shortly. Saying what she had said caused Kaige to think back to the past, back to Kali. He never once thought she was perfect, but he loved her none-the-less. He didn't want to think about that anymore; it was time to move on. He didn't feel bad for never returning to her, she had did what she did and that was that. Shaking his head, he spoke up again. "But anyway... that doesn't matter too much anymore, right?" he asked, quirking a brow and shrugging slightly.
"My life?" he repeated, his expression turning thoughtful as he tried to sum up the past one hundred years. "It's had its ups and downs, but everyone's life is like that once in awhile," he said, half smirking. "For the most part, I just wandered around from place to place like I did after you... disappeared," he said, deciding to call it that. He was over that and had been for awhile. She had her reasons for leaving and he had come to accept that. "Then I happened to come across this place again and it was all different... obviously. One thing led to another and now here I am, the Alpha of this part of the forest." His gaze hardened slightly as he thought back to the day where he became Alpha back in the Forgotten Forest, but he quickly shook the memory away. "I just hope I do a better job this time around."

Velia nodded, "I'm sure you'll make a much better Alpha than I ever would an Alphess." She said, chuckling softly. "I have faith in you, Kaige." Velia said, nodding once. "I'm never far, if you ever need to..." she paused for a moment, trying to decide on the right word, "vent, or just talk." She chose to finish her sentence that way, not sure how else she could've put it in a way that made sense. 'Well...' Velia said in her mind, 'That sounded pretty... weird.' Like she loved him or something. To be honest, Velia didn't want to think about anything like that for a while... she hated drama; that's all that would come with a relationship that Velia was involved in, probably. Hell, drama followed her everywhere. Relationship or not.
"So anyways, how're you feeling about being an Alpha again?" Velia asked next, just a bit curious. He didn't seem too excited, or happy, or angry, just... kind of bland. If she was an Alphess in a pack, she wasn't sure how she'd feel. However, since this was Kaige's pack, she wouldn't have to worry about becoming Alphess, he had told her one hundred years ago - yes, she remembered this - that he liked having her as a friend, but nothing more. She was fine with that, too, because honestly, overtime, Velia had forgotten about love, and she didn't plan to rediscover it. She was happy this way.

Kaige chucked quietly, letting his crimson hued gaze roam across the bluffs that were worn down and darkened as the years went on. For a brief second, he wondered what it would feel like if he fell to the rocky surface that lay below. Of course, he wouldn't die from it; unless, by some chance, the dagger-like rocks ripped his head off. "I think you would make a better leader than I would," he said, snapping his gaze back to Velia in an effort to clear his mind of the morbid images playing over and over again. "Well, you probably would have back before you... changed," he said with a half grin. "Of course, you could still possibly be a good candidate." He took note of what she said and chuckled again, looking oddly amused. "Well, that's good to know. Remember, you're the one that helps me keep my sanity intact."
His mind drifted back to the time where he planned on killing himself. He remembered Velia being there and talking him out of what he wanted to do. He couldn't remember the exact reason why he had wanted to do that, but he had the feeling it had to do with Kali. "I was such an idiot," he muttered, unaware that he was speaking to himself out loud. He would have been a fool to kill himself because of someone. He seemed to remember then that Velia was there. "Oh, well, it's...," he paused to try and sum up what he thought about it, but couldn't quite get the words. "It's.. it brings back some memories. I'm really not all that sure on how I feel about it," he replied with a slight shrug, dropping his gaze to the ground.

Velia chuckled, shaking her head a bit. "Even then, when I was different, I would've sucked." She said with a crooked smile, her dark purple eyes meeting his crimson ones for a brief moment. "I'll try my hardest, of course." She nodded, and then smiled at something she had thought. "Using whatever sanity I have left now, anyways." Well, it was true. She wasn't sure what kind of Alphess she would make, or how much sanity she had left. Mmmm, probably about three fourths of it, more than some, but still, less than one what should have, at any rate. At least, less than what one should have if she was trying to keep her Alpha sane. Hah, the silly things one would do for a friend.... For example -- talking that friend out of suicide.
She remembered the day she had found Kaige about to kill himself, and how badly she had felt, now actually shocked that she was able to talk him out of it... or talk to him at all, really. She started trying to remember why in the world he had wanted to kill himself, and remembered that Kali fae, not remembering much about her, but knowing that Kaige had been in love with her. 'Whatever happened to Kali...? Eh, probably dead.' She thought, shrugging it off. Wasn't that big a deal, really. Snapping back into reality, she looked back at Kaige. "Oh, well, that's... erm... nice, for lack of a better word." She smiled sheepishly, and then looked up at the cloudy sky. It looked as if it were going to rain soon. She frowned at first, but then looked back down, not really minding the rain too much anyways.

"I think you would have done just fine," Kaige replied, shrugging slightly. "But, if that's how you feel about it, go right ahead and think that." He grinned slightly, but it was gone within a second. "Don't worry about me. You just take care of yourself then. I think I can manage." He nodded half seriously. He was used to being alone, especially after all these years. Living a solitary life seemed to fit him best; if that was true, why was he back here? The question remained unanswered in his mind and he let it drift away for the time being. "Oh, yeah. It's extraordinarily nice," he said, letting his attention go back to Velia. "I'm going to do brilliant, aren't I?" he asked dryly, rolling his crimson eyes skyward. "I wonder about myself sometimes," he muttered, speaking more to himself than to her. "But who doesn't?" His gaze snapped back down to her level and he frowned. "Wonder about themselves, that is. I don't expect others to wonder about me."
