Chapter One Prologue
B lack clouds rumbled into the sky, smothering out any potential sunlight which tries to sneak its way through the cracks of the dark clouds. The meadow was dead silence, not a creature was in sight. A soft breeze blew though ruffling up the grass and scattering leaves across the blacken sky. The clouds’ overhead pressed against each other, and finally they broke, and rain fell toward the ground. Lightning lit up the dark sky and thunder pounded in the sky. However the storm was not what others were concerned about. The creatures upon this land hid away in their dark homes for a different reason. All were smart not to confront the monster that had wandered into their land, all except one lone wolf who dared to. He stood there shivering in the freezing cold rain. He shook his brown pelt, but it would do no good. His ears were pinned back against his head and his eyes were filled with fear. This particular didn’t look like much, but he was the Alpha Male of the pack that lived in the meadow - and he felt like it was his job to be courageous. How could he hide when his pack needed him? But now, his life flashed before his eyes, as he watched the creature move closer to him. Black mist swallowed up the earth. It stretched out across the meadow like a poison, growing stronger as it moved along. The grass underneath it, shriveled up and died. Leaving patches of dead grass scattered around the meadow. The mist inched closer toward the wolf, who it wasn’t the mist that scared him the most. It was the monster who controlled it. Piercing red eyes narrowed down to slits glared with much darkness down at the lone wolf. The creature was hidden within the shadows of the blackness, but his immense side was recognizable, he was about three times larger - if not more then the Alpha Male who was very tall himself. The stench of death and blood clung to the creature which caused the Alpha Male to hold his breath for the malodor was too strong for him. Razor sharp blood stained fangs were visible when the lightning flashed across the pitch black sky. The lone wolf lowered his head, his eyes fixed upon those huge canines, and gulped. He tried to back up a few paces, but he was no match for the creature, who gained up on him easily. A whimper escaped his jaws as he tried to turn around and run. He got a few steps, but suddenly the black mist swirled around himself. The Alpha Wolf paused and fell to the ground, he suddenly felt too weak to stand up, it was as his life was being sucked up from him. He then felt the mist slip away into the darkness, but the damage was done. He was too weak now to get away, he strained himself to pull forward, but he crumbled onto the ground, his eyes wide as he watched as the creature wrapped his powerful jaws around his scrawny body. “Please..please..” The words slipped from his maw, but were barley audible. He didn’t have enough strength to even beg for this creature to spare his life. He heard the rumors, but he never believed him. Now he realized he should have listened, but it was too late now. The large creature crunched down hard. Easily penetrating his fur and even breaking bones. Blood gushed out of the wolf and stained the grass. The Alpha wolf let out a whimper, unimaginable pain shown in his eyes, but he could not scream for help, for blood began to drip from his troat. The dark creature began to chew where he bit. A revolting sound came from the crushing of the bones and the guts slushing down the creature’s throat. The Alpha Wolf made a desperate attempt to escape, twisting his body, as he watched in horror as his worst nightmares came to a reality. The monster kept on chewing, showing no remorse for his prey, not a hint of regret - the only thing that shone in his eyes was the lust of blood. He kept on chewing, guts and pieces of bones scattered below him. His fur was soaked in blood, but he didn’t seem to notice. The rain began to pour down even more, causing freshly made mud to mix with the wolf’s blood. After some time the Alpha Wolf’s life faded away from him, he closed his eyes and went limb in the monster’s jaw. His mangled up body was no longer recognizable, for it had been torn to sheds. His once brown fur had been turned to a deep red, his stomach was torn open and blood poured from his wound. The large creature opened his maw and the lifeless body dropped to the ground, falling to the ground at an odd angle. The shadowy creature ran his tongue over his blood covered fangs, a smirk spread across his maw as he dipped his head and began to joy the rest of his meal.
Morning came quickly enough. The sun shone down brightly in the clear morning sky. The wolves and other creatures began to depart from the hiding spot, however they still cautiously looked behind them - waiting for their dreaded nightmare to suddenly return. They made their way to the center of the meadow. The ground was still a bit muddy, and the dead grass glistened with fresh blood. Then they came to the remains of their proud Alpha - and some puked while others turned away and cried. The creature had eaten away everyone - except for his head. Their Alpha’s head was soaked in blood, his mouth was wide open. Guts and pieces of his bones were scattered around him, the ground was soaked in blood. There was no sign of the wolf that had killed him and ate him. He had vanished with the darkness. As the years past no one was safe from him. He made his around in the dead of night to kill several of wolves, killing them in unimaginable and cruel ways and often leaving a present for their love ones the next morning. He once was a nightmare, but now he was a reality. He was the darkness. He was a blood lusting demon who wanted nothing, but to feel the blood of others run down his dry throat. No one is safe, once you stare into his cold dead eyes, you’re next. He has no mercy no pity for those he kills and the lives he destroys. It is a sin to say his name. His name is like poison, which will rot off your tongue and mind. No one will ever dare say the name of the all might and powerful, Jabez Bloodwind.
